It is indeed more fun in the Philippines. And, with the various efforts of our government and the strong partnerships with enterprises, Philippine tourism now is evidently booming and continuously improving its competitiveness. As what Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. say: “while the other countries invite you to observe, the Philippines can promise a more heartfelt experience. Wherever you go, whatever you do in the country, it’s the Filipinos who will complete your vacation and will make your holiday unforgettable.”
The experience of the Filipino people bears the mark of the Filipino Culture of Tourism. In recognition of the Filipinos desire and efforts to help push Philippine tourism forward in their own way, DOT launched last year the “Tourism Star Philippines” recognition program. Under this program, DOT will recognize Tourism front liners and individuals with direct contact with tourists and go the extra mile in giving tourists a delightful experience, exemplifying true Filipino hospitality in their work place and Local Chief Executives (Mayor or Governor) whose projects have created positive impacts to the tourism industry.
After one year of searching, DOT is now ready to announce its first roster of Tourism Star Philippines awardees via a gala dinner.
